Second Test Prep Hit by Security Threat Near India’s Birmingham Base
Ray Sportz Web Desk: Team India’s preparations for the second Test against England were briefly disrupted on Tuesday following a security alert near their hotel in Birmingham’s Centenary Square.
Authorities cordoned off the area after a suspicious package was discovered in the vicinity, prompting a temporary lockdown. Players were advised to remain indoors as a precautionary measure.
While most of the squad complied and stayed within the hotel premises, a few—including skipper Shubman Gill—proceeded to Edgbaston for training under heightened security.
The situation was resolved within an hour, with local police confirming the area was safe. A team spokesperson assured that all players were unharmed and in good spirits.
The second Test at Edgbaston is expected to go ahead as scheduled, with tighter security arrangements now in place.
