Ray Sports Web Desk: India’s young cricketer Rinku Singh shared an emotional message on social media after India’s World Cup victory, remembering his father who passed away during the tournament.
Rinku had lost his father midway through the World Cup and had briefly returned home to perform the last rites before rejoining the Indian squad. The team has now gone on to win the title, but his father was not there to witness the moment.
In a heartfelt post, Rinku wrote, “You taught me that duty always comes first, and I kept your words in mind. I followed everything you taught me and stepped onto the field to fulfil your dreams. Today all your dreams have come true. I only wish you were here to see this moment. In every joyful moment, I want you beside me, Baba. I miss you deeply.”

Rinku’s journey with cricket had not always been easy. In his early days, his father, Khanchand Singh, had once scolded and even beaten him for playing the sport. Although Khanchand Singh could not live to see his son lifting the the World Cup trophy, Rinku ensured that his fsther’s long-cherished dreams were fulfilled on the cricket field.
