IPL 2026: ROYALS ROAR IN RAIN-SHORTENED THRILLER, CRUSH MUMBAI BY 27 RUNS
Ray Sportz Web Desk: Rajasthan Royals delivered a commanding performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a rain-curtailed 11-over contest, showcasing explosive batting and disciplined bowling in a high-intensity IPL clash.
After weather interruptions reduced the match, Rajasthan Royals made full use of the shortened format. Opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a sensational unbeaten 77 off just 32 deliveries, anchoring the innings with aggressive stroke play and remarkable composure. He was well supported by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed a quickfire 39 off 14 balls, propelling the Royals to a formidable total of 150 for 3.
The Royals’ innings was marked by a blistering start, as they raced to nearly 80 runs within the first five overs, putting immense pressure on the Mumbai bowling attack. Despite a few breakthroughs, Mumbai Indians failed to contain the flow of runs.
In response, Mumbai Indians struggled from the outset. The top order collapsed under pressure, with key players such as Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya falling cheaply. At one stage, Mumbai found themselves reeling at 60 for 5, effectively derailing their chase.
Although there were brief attempts at recovery in the middle overs, the required run rate proved too steep. Rajasthan’s bowlers maintained tight lines and picked up wickets at regular intervals, restricting Mumbai to 123 for 9 at the end of their 11 overs.
The match’s turning point came during the powerplay, where Rajasthan’s aggressive batting created an insurmountable advantage. Jaiswal’s innings stood out as the defining performance of the game, earning him widespread praise.
With this victory, Rajasthan Royals continue their impressive run in the tournament, strengthening their position near the top of the points table. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly after another disappointing outing.
The Royals’ all-round display once again highlighted their credentials as strong contenders this season.
