Persistent rain over the last few days has left the pitch damp and underprepared, raising questions about its behavior. With forecasts predicting rain throughout all five days, the toss is expected to be a game-changer.
Team India enters this do-or-die encounter against England facing multiple setbacks, particularly with injuries. However, there is a silver lining: wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has recovered. In another significant development, young pacer Anshul Kamboj is likely to make his red-ball debut, replacing Akash Deep. Known for his long spells and ability to swing the ball under overcast conditions, Anshul could prove vital in Manchester’s seam-friendly weather.
Sai Sudharsan is also expected to join the playing XI in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, questions remain over his batting position.
