IND vs ENG: Injuries Force India Into Yet Another Shuffle Ahead of Fourth Test
Ray Sportz Web Desk: With just hours to go before the crucial fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Indian captain Shubman Gill confirmed significant changes to the playing XI due to mounting injuries in the camp. Trailing 1-2 in the series, the Indian team finds itself in a tight spot as the red-ball tour progresses.
In a pre-match press conference, Gill cleared the air about team selection concerns. Rishabh Pant, who was injured during the Lord’s Test and managed to keep wickets for only 35 overs, has now recovered fully. “Pant will be keeping in Manchester,” Gill stated, bringing some relief to the Indian camp.
The Indian squad continues to suffer fitness setbacks. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out, while pacers Akashdeep and Arshdeep Singh are unavailable for the fourth Test. Anshul Kamboj, who has impressed the team management during net sessions, is being considered as a strong replacement. “We’ve all watched him in the nets. He has the skills,” Gill commented.
India has seen continuous changes in the playing XI since the start of the series. Acknowledging the disruption, Gill admitted, “I wasn’t prepared for such frequent changes. It’s a challenge. Adjusting to constant tactical shifts isn’t easy for anyone. But we still have bowlers capable of taking 20 wickets.”
As the pressure mounts, the skipper also backed Karun Nair ahead of the match, placing full trust in the experienced batsman to deliver when it matters most.
