IND vs ENG: India Turns to Two-Coloured Ball Drill to Break IPL Habits Ahead of 2nd Test
Ray Sportz Web Desk: In a bid to reset their bowlers’ red-ball rhythm after the IPL season, the Indian cricket team has introduced a unique “two-coloured ball” method during net sessions ahead of the second Test against England.
The move comes amid concerns over pacers carrying over “filthy” white-ball habits—like flat seam positions, erratic lines, and over-reliance on slower deliveries. The training method, supervised by bowling coach Morne Morkel, uses balls painted in two colours to help players visibly track seam position and wrist alignment during release.
“This drill is about re-tuning bowlers for the red-ball discipline,” said assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. “It helps them focus on swing, seam, and consistency—essentials for Test success.”
India trails 0-1 in the five-match series and is banking on disciplined bowling to bounce back at Edgbaston starting July 3.
