IND vs ENG: India Seizes Control at The Oval as Jaiswal, Akash Deep Dazzle
Ray Sportz Web Desk: India surged into a dominant position on Day 3 of the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval, powered by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sparkling century and a surprise fifty from nightwatchman Akash Deep. England ended the day at 50/1, needing a daunting 324 runs more to pull off a record chase.
Resuming at 75 for 2, Jaiswal and Deep frustrated the English bowlers with a resilient 107-run stand. The 27-year-old Deep, known more for his bowling, struck a gritty 66 — his maiden Test fifty — while Jaiswal crafted a fluent 118, his sixth century in Tests and second of the series.
With late flourishes from Ravindra Jadeja (53) and Washington Sundar (53 off 39), India posted 396 in their second innings, setting England a towering target of 374 — one never successfully chased at The Oval.
England made a steady start before Mohammed Siraj struck on the final ball of the day, removing Zak Crawley for 14 with a searing yorker. England now face a steep climb with nine wickets in hand and history firmly against them.
The Test — and the series — hangs in the balance, with India needing nine wickets to level the five-match contest at 2–2.
