Ray Sportz Web Desk: In the wake of India’s resounding 336-run win at Edgbaston, led by a majestic double-century from Shubman Gill, England have reportedly requested a more “lively and sporting” pitch for the upcoming third Test at Lord’s.
Coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes criticized the Edgbaston surface, calling it “subcontinent-like,” and urged the MCC to prepare a wicket that offers pace, bounce, and movement to aid their returning quicks, Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson.
India, however, remain unfazed. Gill, riding high on form, remarked that the team is ready for any challenge and subtly hinted that the Lord’s pitch might not be as flat this time. With Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in top rhythm, India’s pace unit is well equipped to counter green conditions.
As the psychological tug-of-war over pitch conditions continues, all eyes now turn to Lord’s, where the third Test begins on July 10. The battle promises to be fierce—both on the field and beneath it.
