Ray Sportz Web Desk: India ended Day 3 of the second Test against England in a commanding position, leading by 244 runs after closing at 64/1 in their second innings.
Earlier in the day, England staged a stunning fightback led by Jamie Smith (184*) and Harry Brook (158), recovering from a perilous 84/5 to post 407 in their first innings. The pair added a record 303 runs for the sixth wicket, thrilling the Edgbaston crowd and keeping English hopes alive.
However, India’s pace duo Mohammed Siraj (6/70) and Akash Deep (4/88) dismantled the rest of the English lineup, ending the resistance swiftly after the major partnership.
India, having posted 587 in their first innings, opted against enforcing the follow-on. Openers KL Rahul (28*) and Karun Nair (7*) guided the visitors to stumps with a steady start.
With two full days remaining, India looks poised to set a daunting target, while England must brace for a tough fourth innings chase.
