Rahul, Jurel, Jadeja Script India’s Commanding Day as West Indies Face Uphill Battle

Ray Sportz Web Desk: The second day of the India–West Indies Test belonged entirely to the hosts as centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja carried India to a position of dominance at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Resuming at 121 for 2 in reply to West Indies’ 162, India lost Shubman Gill early to Roston Chase after a determined half-century. From there, however, the visitors’ bowlers were made to toil under the harsh Ahmedabad sun.
KL Rahul, calm and assured, notched up his 11th Test hundred, steering India past the first-innings lead. His dismissal brought young wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel to the crease, and what followed was a show of temperament and strokeplay. Jurel registered his maiden Test century, becoming only the fifth Indian to achieve the feat against the Caribbean side.
At the other end, Ravindra Jadeja showcased his trademark grit, bringing up a patient but authoritative century.
Together, Jurel and Jadeja added over 200 runs for the fifth wicket, pushing the West Indies further onto the back foot.
By stumps, India had reached an imposing 448 for 5, a lead of 286 runs. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104, with Washington Sundar on 9. For the West Indies, Roston Chase’s spell was the lone bright spot on an otherwise punishing day.
With three full days left, India will eye a declaration and a shot at enforcing a follow-on, while the visitors must summon every ounce of resolve to avoid an innings defeat.

ASIA CUP 2025: Tilak’s Heroics Seal Thrilling Asia Cup Win as Trophy Drama Overshadows Victory

Ray Sportz Web Desk: Colombo – In a nail-biting finale that epitomized the fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan, India clinched the Asia Cup title with a tense 5-wicket win, chasing down Pakistan’s modest total of 146 with just two balls to spare.
The high-octane clash, played before a packed house, saw Pakistan elect to bat first but falter under relentless Indian bowling pressure. Despite a fighting 42 from skipper Babar Azam, Pakistan were bowled out for 146, with Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav sharing crucial wickets.
India’s chase was far from smooth as Pakistan’s pace attack struck early, reducing India to 48/3. But young southpaw Tilak Varma rose to the occasion, crafting a match-winning 69* off 53 balls, mixing grit with elegance. His partnership with Hardik Pandya (28) steadied the innings and pushed India over the line in the final over.
“This was a team effort. We knew if we held our nerve, we’d get across the line,” Tilak said after being named Player of the Match.
However, the night’s celebrations were clouded by off-field drama. The Indian team declined to receive the trophy from ACC President and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, citing political tensions. The decision meant there was no formal presentation ceremony, an unusual and striking end to an otherwise electrifying contest.
With this win, India not only retained the Asia Cup title but also laid down a marker ahead of the upcoming World T20, reminding their arch-rivals of their depth and composure under pressure.

ASIA CUP 2025: India Hold Nerve in Super Over, Break Sri Lankan Hearts in Colombo

Ray Sportz Web Desk: Cricket fans at the R. Premadasa Stadium witnessed a rollercoaster contest on Thursday night as India survived a stunning century from Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka to clinch a nail-biting victory in a Super Over. The match had everything — explosive batting, momentum swings, and a nerve-wracking finish that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
Put in to bat, India got off to a solid start before losing a couple of quick wickets. The middle order steadied the innings, with quickfire cameos from the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant pushing India to a competitive 202 for 6 at the end of 20 overs. The total looked challenging, but far from out of reach on a batting-friendly surface.
Sri Lanka’s reply was anchored by opener Pathum Nissanka, who produced one of the finest knocks of his career. His elegant strokeplay and controlled aggression frustrated the Indian bowlers as he kept the hosts in the hunt. Wickets kept falling at the other end, but Nissanka held firm, bringing up a scintillating century. With the equation narrowing to 12 runs off the final over, Sri Lanka fought till the very last ball — levelling the scores and forcing a dramatic Super Over.
In the one-over eliminator, India’s Jasprit Bumrah delivered a brilliant spell of death bowling, conceding just two runs and picking up both Sri Lankan wickets. The pressure was too much for the home side to handle. Chasing three to win, India wasted no time as their opener smashed the very first ball past point to complete the job, sparking wild celebrations among players and travelling fans.
The victory not only secures India’s place at the top of the table but also sends them into the upcoming Asia Cup final against arch-rivals Pakistan with huge confidence. For Sri Lanka, it was a cruel result — despite Nissanka’s heroic 107, they were left empty-handed, a bitter pill for the home crowd to swallow.
As the teams prepare for the final showdown, Thursday’s match will be remembered as one of the most dramatic India–Sri Lanka encounters in recent memory — a reminder that in T20 cricket, even 240 balls aren’t always enough to separate two determined sides.
