All-Indian Mohammedan SC Ready for ISL Test Against Jamshedpur FC
Ray Sportz Web Desk: Mohammedan Sporting Club are set to launch their Indian Super League 2025–26 campaign with a high-voltage clash against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday, February 15, kicking off at 5:00 PM.
The season opener marks a significant moment for the Black and White Brigade, who are entering the league with a fully Indian squad — a rare move in ISL history. Despite a short 15-day preparation period, head coach Mehraj Uddin expressed optimism ahead of the challenge.
“Fifteen days are not enough for any team, especially when other ISL teams have been training for a long time. But we have worked hard in these 15 days and seen improvement in fitness and team coordination. We are hopeful,” Uddin said during the pre-match press conference.
Last season proved to be turbulent for Mohammedan SC, with financial uncertainty affecting performances in the latter half of the campaign. The club struggled after investors withdrew, leading to salary concerns among players. However, the management has turned a new page this year, banking on homegrown talent and continuity within the squad.
Due to an ongoing transfer ban, Mohammedan SC have registered only Indian players who were already contracted or signed during the previous window. Players such as Hiram Mandal, Fardeen, Jewel and Israfil Diwan have been integrated into the squad, building on experience gained in competitions like the Kolkata League, Durand Cup and Super Cup.
“This is a big motivation for Indian players,” Uddin said. “Often, when foreign players come in, local players don’t get enough game time. We must trust our Indian talent. It will be challenging, but we will fight.”
The introduction of relegation this season adds an extra layer of pressure across the league. However, the Mohammedan coach maintained that his team is not focusing on that aspect just yet. “There is pressure on every team. We are concentrating on performing at our best. We will fight against any team in the league.”
Captain Gaurav ‘Boda’ Gora echoed the coach’s confidence. “It’s a big thing to play in the ISL. All the players are mentally ready. Whether we face foreign players or not, we will give 100 percent. Our aim is to follow the coach’s plan and give our best for the team,” he said.
Jamshedpur FC, meanwhile, pose a formidable challenge with a strong roster that includes six foreign players. Uddin acknowledged the quality in the opposition ranks, naming key players such as Madhi Talal and others who can influence the game. However, he stressed that Mohammedan would focus on collective defending and teamwork rather than targeting individuals.
“We defend as a team. It’s not just about defenders or goalkeepers. Against strong teams, we must stay united in attack and defence,” he stated.
As the ISL returns with renewed intensity and the added twist of relegation, Mohammedan Sporting Club step into the spotlight with a bold, all-Indian approach. While expectations remain measured, one message from the camp is clear — they are ready to fight.

India Edge Past Hong Kong 2–1 in Crucial Qualifier Clash
Ray Sportz Web Desk: In a spirited display at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the Indian national football team secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Hong Kong in their AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers (Third Round) encounter on Tuesday.
India got off to a dream start when debutant Ryan Williams found the back of the net in just the 4th minute, giving the hosts an early advantage and electrifying the home crowd. The early goal set the tone for the match, with India dominating possession and dictating the tempo in the opening half.
The second half saw India continue their attacking momentum, and their efforts paid off when Akash Mishra doubled the lead, finishing a well-worked move to put the hosts firmly in control. However, Hong Kong responded with resilience, pulling one goal back in the 65th minute through Everton Camargo, setting up a tense finish.
Despite late pressure from the visitors, the Indian defense held firm, with disciplined performances across the backline ensuring the hosts protected their narrow lead until the final whistle.
The victory marked India’s first win in the ongoing qualifying campaign, providing a much-needed boost in morale. However, despite the positive result, India ended their campaign at the bottom of the group standings.
The team will look to build on this performance in future fixtures as they aim to regain momentum on the international stage.

Ray Sportz Web Desk: In what will be remembered as one of the most one-sided encounters in recent Kolkata derby history, East Bengal produced a stunning performance to defeat Mohammedan Sporting Club 7–0 in today’s match.
From the opening whistle, East Bengal looked dominant, controlling possession and dictating the tempo with confidence and precision. Their attacking intent paid off early, setting the tone for a relentless display that left Mohammedan struggling to recover.
